For many years, I’ve worked with essential oils, companioned the dying, and explored the elements—earth, water, fire, and air—through a yogic lens. Recently, I completed a course of study that weaves these threads into a sacred and healing whole.
This work honors the ancient Egyptian tradition of the Myrrhophores—“women who work with Myrrh.” Once hidden, this sacred lineage has resurfaced. This was an oral tradition that was hidden for centuries – and now is the time that we need this sacred knowledge.
“
My physical and mental health had lately been going through the frustration of nothing working, nothing getting better. Holding the oil gently to my feet while reading a lovely and calming meditation, HarDarshan worked magic with her fingers and the oil and the words. I was becoming wonderfully calm and almost fell asleep at one point. The whole experience might have been as many as ten minutes, but I felt days of frustration slipping away, replaced by the most marvelous sense of calm.”

This is not aromatherapy as you may know it. The oils from plants and flowers hold enormous forces of energy that can help to realign and rebalance the spirit and the soul. Sacred oils are medicines of the soul.
There are many sacred oils that can be used to ease grief, smooth all kinds of transitions, and bring our spirits and souls into harmony.
Sometimes the death of a loved one has been less than easy.
It’s possible to work with the soul of a loved one after death – either in the days following, or even years later, in order to “rewrite” the experience.
By connecting with the soul’s imprint, we can use sacred oils within ritual to contact and heal past hurts, including any trauma within the process of dying.
Having worked with the dying and their families after death, both as a spiritual teacher and a hospital chaplain, I’m familiar with and comfortable in working with souls across the threshold. This process can be used for beloved pets, as well.
I’m excited to bring this knowledge into the community. Please contact me if you are interested in incorporating sacred oils into your therapy sessions, or as therapy unto themselves. I can travel to those home bound or in hospital or hospice.
Ravensara is an oil that works with the water element.
It helps to both access and regulate emotional states that can arise with memories, nostalgia, past soul wounds, etc.
Niaouli is the oil that works with the fire element.
When anger and agitation arise, Naiouli helps us connect with that “dark night of the soul” so we can work through it.
Elemi oil works with the air element, which naturally is the last element we release at the time of death.
This oil brings a sense of kindness, joy, love, and expansion.
Like the oil Fragonia, the oil May Chang also works with the element of earth. May Chang works much in the way that the art of Kintsugi does. The art of Kintsugi is when broken pottery is repaired with gold filling the seams.
This metaphor represents us when we are broken…we can heal and become stronger, wiser, and more beautiful when we mend.
We have a more valuable life with knowledge gained from experience We become better than before.
While this philosophy informs how I practice mental health counseling, I also use it when working with the oil May Chang. This oil helps to “fill in the cracks” with golden light and helps you to feel more whole, even while undergoing challenges.
